There's a hole in my face dear Liza, dear Liza

Photobucket

This is my cute new nose piercing, a souvenir from Portland. I can't tell you all how happy I am with it! Yay for my nose!
Not having a great go with the pattern making. I'm going to work on it some more tonight while I watch Project Runway. I'm really hoping to have it done by Sunday when we go to the beach. I am in a huge beach mood. Bri's birthday is Friday and I think I'm going to wear my Yellow dress and shoes. I need to buy some black tights for it though. Maybe navy blue tights would be cool? then I could wear my forever21 bag and blue cardigan? Man I need to do laundry so bad!
School starts in almost a month, I am not a summer girl, but I do wish we had more time off. I had so many plans for this summer and haven't done a single thing that was on my list. I haven't even looked at the fall classes catalogue. I keep procrastinating thinking it won't come if I don't open the catalogue. But it will so I should get cracking. I just want to be done with school!
Do you ever get that feeling that something big is coming? It makes you feel kinda paranoidish because you keep waiting and waiting and just when you are about to give up POW! It hits you. I've kinda felt that way all week. Like something going to come and change and it's going to be big. maybe I'm crazy?
In other news my Netflix just brought me happiness in the form of Gidget movies and the first two disks of the TV show! yay!
well I'm off to the boob tube to watch Project Runway, and hopefully figure out this pattern!
Ciao Darlings,
Peace, love, and save the bees

Dream a little dream...

So my best friend Sarah and I went to JoAnns last wednesday and were pleasantly surprised to find that all the butterick patterns were on sale for 99 cents. The limit was ten patters each so naturally we each bought ten. I bought most of the re released vintage patterns but wanted to get the rest. So the next day I drug my sister Chelsea to JoAnns, and bought ten more. Then Friday Bri and I went and I finally finished getting all the vintage patterns, plus a few more for good measure. Well I also bought a few yards of four different fabrics. One of them is a very cute but simple red with white polka dots. I bought it only because a. it was cheap b. I love polka dotted things, and c. I figured why not. So last night I was looking for some other fabric scraps I bought to make hair bows out of and remembered the red polka dots. I went to sleep right after that. about ten minuets after I fell asleep I jolted awake with the CUTEST idea for a shirt out of this fabric! So tomrrow I'm going to draft the pattern. I have to go get some plain white cotton to finish it, but I'm hoping by the end of the week I shall have a new really cute shirt! yay! I also bought a really pretty yellow and white striped fabric. Maybe I'll dream up a cute something for that too.
Ciao darlings, I'm off to bed!
Oh and Sean Connery is much better looking than George Clooney.
Also if any one wants to buy me this dress, I have no opposition. And my birthday is in 27 days!

At long last

sorry for the break in blogging! we have been on vacation and then came back and flew right into the work week. well this week's TDI is inspired by one of my all time favourite movies: Photobucket

If you haven't seen this movie you must. It is one of the best happy sorta romantic, thrilling, and cute summer movies EVER! It takes place on Crete so today we will be in Crete walking on the beach.

OKay so usually I'm not one for coloured pants, but I love these. and the espadrills are supposed to be red, but couldn't find any. Anyways The pink top is not exactly what I wanted, but it's really cute!

The Hunky love interest in this movie inspires Hayley Mills to dress up for dinner even though they are in a tiny little hotel. So when I meet my hunky mysterious English man I plan on wearing this lovely ensamble.

I would KILL for the dress Hayley wears in the movie, but here is the next best thing as we go through the ruins at the Palace of Knosses.

Well there you have it! So go buy/rent/netflix MoonSpinners. Then get the Movie Mama's Boy so you can see Uncle Stratos as an old man. and yes the old man is Uncle Stratos. It's pretty funny!

Also if you want to join me in my little make believe world feel free to! I've already got my sister friends on the bandwagon. So be creative and have fun!

oh and here's a note from the one and only Miss Live a Little:
Sooooo...I'm here at the Barrett house and I would just like to say: they are certifiably crazy.
Also;; George Clooney is hotter than Sean Connery.
All though...Sean Connery is "THE SHEX GOD OF THE UNIVERSH."
Oh...and I love Ashley to reeses pieces.

Three days in Seattle

A little late, but I've had a busy day.

Seattle has the reputation for grunge, but I thought that this would be a lovely sort of outfit to walk all over the city in. oh. And I love those shoes!

As much as I love dresses and skirts, black skinny jeans are very sexy in a funky and yet suprisingly modest and understated way. And I love blue and yellow together.

What is a trip to Seattle without a little (or in my case alot!) of coffee? My family has always wanted to open up a cafe/bookshop somewhere up north, and Seattle is the place to do it.

So that's it for this week's "TDITC". I've got a super busy week ahead of me. we leave for Oregon next saturday! I just have to figure out when I'm going to back?

Ode to a Dress (or just dresses in general)

I remember when I was nine and had an acute fascination with horses (it lasted about a week, I told my mom that when I was a grown up I was going to own nine pairs of jeans. I was going to wear nothing but tennis shoes, tee-shirts and jeans. I was never the "princessy" type. I Really wanted to be a tomboy, but the fact was I loved my dolls and doing their hair, and putting on pretty things, and imagining that I could talk to faeries. The truth is, I love being a girl, and I love wearing dresses. I don't know what it is about a new frock, or even an old loved one, that makes me smile. The word frock makes me smile! It's so pleasantly old fashioned, I love it! I just don't understand how feminism succeeded in removing femininity. I mean think about it. Shouldn't feminism celebrate a woman for her, oh I don't know, womanhood? I think it's so silly to say that only women who have rejected everything that makes them a woman are feminists. If you happen to be a woman who has chosen to embrace her femininity, and traditional role as a woman, why can't she be a feminist? Not to sound like I'm ranting, because I'm really not, but it's just very hypocritical to say that women can't be, act, or dress like a woman. And let's face it, dresses are really comfortable!
So chew on these lovely dresses from Topshop, who need to open a store (or a few) in California. I'd happily go bankrupt for them.
