Baking

I had a totally different and far less fattening post set for today, but sometimes life interrupts plans. So I shall save it for another day. In the mean time, I invented a cookie. Not just any cookie. I invented what might possibly be the best cookie ever. It is full of autumnal goodness and things that make me incredibly happy. So here is my invented recipe for you all to try. I'm not gonna lie, you might eat the whole plate (especially since they aren't that sweet).

I based it off my favourite Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe, which is from The Children's Step-By-Step Cookbook (I do use cookbooks that are made for adults but sometimes the best recipes are the simplest). Oh and I always double my recipes to accommodate the number of people in my family, but these are the book amounts

Ashley's Autumn Surprise Cookies
You will need:

Ground Cloves
Ground Cinnamon
Ground Nutmeg
Chili Powder (stay with me)
1/3 c sugar
1/4 lb softened butter
1 1/4 c flour
1 egg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. packed brown sugar
2/3 c. Special ingredient (we'll get to it)
chocolate chips/ chopped chocolate (use as much as you want.)

Set the over to 375. Beat butter and both sugars until creamy. Break egg and beat until smooth. Add Vanilla. Add flour, salt, baking soda, and spices. On the spices: be careful with the chili powder, you only want enough to bring out the other spices and the chocolate. With the others use as much as you like, be careful with cloves. Stir until smooth, add chocolate. Now add Special ingredient. Ready for it? Lingonberry Preserves. Yup. Mix until smooth. If it seems to runny add 1/3 cup of flour. Also if you like your cookies sweeter I'd add between 1/4-1/2 cup of sugar. They don't come out that sweet. Grease cookie sheets, use a spoon to place mounds of cookie dough on the cookie sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes (my oven is wonky, so mine took about 15 mins.) , let cool. Enjoy with cup of coffee, cocoa, or tea.

So far my family and everyone in my office loves them (except for Slutty McSlutslut and her sidekick). I think these are a hit.
