Recently I have been musing over how better to utilize my wardrobe. I think that sometimes fashion blogging can lead to this idea that we always have to show "new," which for me at least, leads to this weird "need" for new. I guess I think that if I'm not constantly showing new things here no one will read my blog anymore. Which is insane because some of my favourite blogs are by girls who are experts of re-mixing. But time and time again I find myself only photographing the new outfits, and ignoring the ones made up of old items.
I'm sure this also has something to do with the whole finally being a decent seamstress thing too. If I want a new dress, I can just go make one! But I am trying to be better at mixing it up and making sure that I use my clothes wisely. With my going back to school creeping closer I know I am not going to have the time, energy, funds, or brain power to constantly be buying or making new items, so while I fully plan on making myself a whole wardrobe of crap I have five minutes to get to class friendly clothes, I think I'm honestly a little out of practice remixing. So here's to more old and just a little less new.
Also, if any of this sounds weird, or ill-formed, it is because I am currently ridiculously sick. I hate sinus infections. Alot. Hankies are my best friend, and putting makeup on has not helped me feel better. So I'm going back to bed. :-)
I love your library! :) it's so adorable :) and sounds like a great plan! I am learning how to sew so one day I can just make my own stuffz!

I love these large photos! Lady, that dress is gorgeous! You have some serious skills! Your hair looks lovely in these shots! I love this post!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you. I actually love seeing people re-mixing what they have - it shows creativity. The whole consumerism part of blogging (even if it just involves thrifting) can be so intimidating and easy to get caught up in. I love that dress - the print is so pretty and the shape is so feminine. Your hair looks fabulous, too!
ReplyDeletewow is this your own library? if so, more pictures of it please!! i also agree...i like these larger pictures too. and i love your dress! so pretty.
