Lately I have had no motivation for just about anything. I got a really nasty sunburn last weekend, and felt drained from that, then have had an on-again-off-again toothache for the last three days, I'm tired, stressed, a little cranky and just have not wanted to do anything (and I finally lost my voice tonight, which is incredibly annoying!). Especially in the creativity department. I've had a million ideas, a ton of projects piling up, but never got around to them. So Friday night I decided that I needed to just start something, take it slow, and just get it done. I've had this denim in my stash for a few weeks with the intention of making a 40's style playsuit/romper (or "zippy pantdress" as I like to call it). So I figured now was as good a time as any to finally get it done!
I normally shy away from rompers and play suits. They tend to be very unflattering on my figure, so I've avoided them while dreaming from afar. Recently I re-discovered this variation on a dress I've already made. I also recently bought a vintage 60's pattern with a pair of shorts. So I combined the two! I shortened the shorts considerably to give it more of a 40's vibe. I intended to use red buttons on the straps, but when my zipper fell through (I didn't have one that worked for this) and I decided to do a button placket instead, I switched to the white ones. I did have some weird fit issues with this, but they were fairly easy to fix and in the end it took about 5 hours from cutting to snipping all the threads (spanned out over two days.)! I was a little unsure about whether I liked the way it fit me, but I have decided that I love it too much to really care. It's comfy and cute, and will be absolutely perfect for this summer. And a little jaunt on my newly revamped bike. Her name is Marta. Basically.
Worst photo ever, yet oddly my favourite.
Your outfits are always perfect. You remind me of Lolita (the movie in 1997!) I love the styling done and I am jelly, I want your Swedish Hasbeens!
