Lavender

Lavender Fields Forever

Remember the Lavender Festival we went to for Father's Day? Well this past weekend the resort had a Harvesting Day. They did demonstrations on how lavender is harvested, dried, and eventually turned into essential oil. We were treated to lavender lemonade and honey lavender ice cream as well as some fun and pretty crafts. It was a marvelous day!

This dress... oh this dress. I started this dress a week before the festival. I finished it Saturday morning (well, sort of. I actually still need to finish the hem.). I'm not sure what it was about this dress but it was kind of a pain to make. I mean, I can't tell you how many times I had to just stop working because I couldn't stand to look at it anymore. Originally it was going to be all one colour, but I ran out of the purple fabric, so I figured I'd do a two toned thing. I love the concept, but I don't know, the whole dress really irritates me. And then it didn't even photograph well! Sigh. I'm not sure I'll ever use this pattern again, because there was just one problem after another. Maybe I will take another stab at it because I really do like the style, I think I just need to spend some quality time altering the thing. But here is my lavender dress and I will say that I do actually like the total effect of the dress. I actually think the belt is my favourite part. I knew thrifting a ton of old belt buckles would come in handy one day!
