Mom, you are not allowed to read this until Monday May 11th
I always forget how much I love this dress until I wear it again. This morning I was in a bit of a rush so I recycled it and the flower. The sleeves appeal to my inner Anne Shirley.
Funny story about these glasses. I bought them on my birthday last year at the Forever 21 in Fashion Island? Hill? Centre? Islet? The one in San Diego. Anyways, my sister hates them with a passion and I get made fun of every time I wear them, but I prevail, because dogonit I like them. Then *magically* one night whilst Bri was making a stupid video on her webcam and used my sunglasses, then went missing. I had no idea where they went. This was in January. I was so sad, that in February I bought two pairs from Fredflare.com, one in red, and one in white to replace these. I actually like these ones better, because the heart shape is thicker, but alas for me. I found them two weeks ago when cleaning my room. They had fallen behind my dresser and were sitting there happily chilling. So now I have two pairs of white heart shaped sunglasses.
This morning started out epically annoying. First my dad's pet car got egged and my mom and Chelsea had to help him scrub the egg off. He has a Jag that he treats like his favourite child so you can imagine how mad he was. There's some stupid punks in our neighbourhood that think this is funny and do it once a month. Bri and I are trying to observe their patterns so that we can be hiding in bushes one night and when they open fire we'll blast them with our own eggs and tampons and stuff. On a slightly related note, I'm so over the parking situation at work. I had to drive my mom's car here today, while my dad took his own car. We left at the exact same time, though I had to drop off Bri, and by the time I got here there was no parking left, and some pompous security guard for DCSS( Dept. Child Support Services, which shares a parking lot with us and is CLOSED on Fridays) told me I couldn't park there even though they were closed. So I said, "um your people park on our side all the time, and you guys are closed, besides there was someone just out here knocking on your door and then he went and got in his car, which was in my normal spot, and he's now just chilling there, so until he moves I'll be parked here." Then the stupid security guard said "well if you park here I'll have you towed." and then I said "well I'm more than happy to have the guy in my spot towed while he's in that car. I'll knock him out if I have to." and then the guard of douchebaggy-ness said "Look lady you can't park here. Just move. Sorry about that." Then I bit my lip too hard and almost charged him but instead turned to him and said "Oh really? I didn't think a heartless jerk like you could be sorry. Yeah I'm sure you're really sorry about all this." Then I moved the car and had to park by a meter. Or something like that happened. However my dad did just inform me that he has a reason behind my driving here, which I'm pretty sure, starts with and A and rhymes with Oncology. Or another place that rhymes with Shate and Smarel. And I have to take pics of Bri, for a highly secret thing that Grace almost blabbed about. And I have to finish the slowly but surely diminishing pile of paperwork on my desk.
Should be an interesting day...
I just realized that I wrote this post like a stupid sixteen year old girl.... Good lordy.

Once a Bride's Maid

So just as soon as I get a paycheck I'm going to be buying this sweet little thing and make myself a million dresses with it, including my bride's maid dress. I think I'll make one in a sage green for the Bridal Shower too. This dress seriously makes my heart flutter and I'm pretty sure I'm just going to want to live in it. And then be buried in it. If I die anytime soon, keep that in mind mom, 'k? The best part of all this? Colette Patterns is based in Portland. I know. Sarai, who's the creator of Colette Patterns has a really awesome blog called Sweet Sassafras. I high recommend it.

We're Kings Among Runaways
Trust me, I don't look like this today, but I think this was last Wednesday, so close enough...
These are the result of my pin curling rampage. I quite like it for the time being. My ultimate goal is to have hair like this (also if you look in the above pictures you'll see that the below is closer to my natural hair colour. My current colour, which I am growing out, keeps magically changing into something quite strangely raspberry coloured):

As far as I'm concerned, I spent yesterday in a coma, and have no memory of anything that happened, and have deleted all record of it. Just FYI.
I've had alot of new readers lately and I'd like to apologize to them for that stupid rant *that didn't actually happen* yesterday. I'm not normally that irritable, but holy Belgium I had a crappy day *that didn't actually happen*.
Also to those new readers (I'm talking to you UCSD, and Murrieta, Colorado Air Force, Person in Australia, and Mom (yes I do have amazingly magical powers of knowing where you're all from, due to the stat tracker at the bottom of this blog)), if you're here, you could comment, then we could be best friends... or mortal enemies. I'm currently running low in the mortal enemy department, so if you're interested, apply within. Friend applications are also being accepted at this time.
Glory I have no idea why I said all that. Ahhh, today is already astronomically better than yesterday *that didn't actually happen*.

Monday Inspiration #9: Steampunk Fashion
I knew it wouldn't last forever, but by George I'm sad to see the nice weather go. It was supposed to rain here on Saturday, but not so much. Sunday I spent at Disneyland for this girl's birthday, and while there was a lovely breeze it was HOT. It was also Bat day at Disneyland, which is when all people who belong to the Goth Spectrum come out and play. Some of the outfits were AMAZING! While I seriously can't see myself wearing any of those things, some of them were beautiful. There was a ton of black lace and prettily draped skirts and dresses. Of course had I gone to a public school (or private for that matter), and had my "rebel without a cause"-ness been allowed to fully blossom, I would probably have gone Goth. Granted I did dress entirely in black for a whole two months because I was in mourning over the fact that Josh Groban was dating January Jones. But then I was in a musical and the director told me to either wear some colour or hit the road. Admittedly I did black pretty boring, but it was still fun. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures from yesterday seeing as both Sarah and I forgot cameras. There were alot of pieces of clothing I would love to figure out how to work into my own wardrobe and style. One girl specifically, had this beautiful black brocade skirt that she made (that just totally gave me a song idea!). It was sort of bell shaped with a slight asymmetrical hem and black netting at the bottom. it came down in three panels and at each seam where the panels met there was a really thin strip of velvet. Her outfit was my favourite. She and her husband were more of the Steampunk variety of goth, and were super cool. By the end of the day me and the goths were like this *crosses fingers to signify goth camaraderie*. I was talking to the Steampunk girl for a little while and she mentioned that it was funny how people responded to them at Disneyland. She said they were used to being stared at and even having people look down on them, but she said what was funny was how stinking rude some people were, while there were others, like myself, who thought it was so cool. It got me thinking about how funny people are when it comes to clothing. All clothes are a costume. We dress to play a part, to fit in, to not fit in, and to stand apart. So regardless of what you wear, you wear it to play your part. Costumes have always been something that fascinated me. It's always been my favourite part of the theatre world, because as an actress it's the finishing touch on finding your character. So if you bleach your hair, get boob implants and wear raccoon-ish black eye makeup you're doing that to play the part of "Bro Ho". If you hike up your pants, wear a pocket protector, and tape on the bridge of coke bottle glasses, then you're trying to fill the "nerd" role. It doesn't matter who you are, musician, politician, hobo, or debutante, we all play a role with our clothing. Frankly I am a huge fan of Steampunk fashion. It's very beautiful and feminine, with a bit of grunge thrown in. I love Steampunk stories, films and art. I'm sure that alot of people think it's very odd that people would want to live in a costume that is basically a fantasy, but think about this: is there really any difference between the Steampunk fantasy and the Beverly Hills fantasy? Frankly I'd rather live in the world of H.G Wells, and Jules Verne, than Paris Hilton... I'm just sayin'...
I think Mark Twain said it best: "Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society."
So here are some rocking steampunk fashions for you to enjoy. If you're curious about Steampunk here are some films I recommend that give some cool examples of Steampunk:
Howl's Moving Castle
Castle in the Sky
Pretty much any Hiyao Miazaki film
League of Extraordinary Gentleman
City of Ember
Sweeney Todd
Wild, Wild West (I know)
The Golden Compass (I haven't actually seen this one, but from what I've seen of pictures the costumes are fabulous)
And because I can here is a really cool online Steampunk paper doll thing.
